Children of Ireland, please join us and sign this letter to the TDs, Ministers and Government of Ireland to help save Ireland's trees.

To the TDs, Ministers and Government of Ireland,

We need you to stop cutting down trees.

Councils are needlessly cutting down healthy trees in towns, where there is very little other nature. Waterways Ireland are felling them on the banks of rivers. They are calling this massacre of life "essential maintenance". Farmers are ripping them out of hedgerows or bulldozing them down to waist height.

We care because trees are living beings. As well as having the right to live peacefully on this Earth, they provide us the clean air we need to breathe. They give safe homes for hundreds of species of animals that we so need to protect. Scientists have found out that trees of completely different species help each other through hard times by sending nutrients through the soil. But we humans don't seem to be able to help anyone but ourselves and now all other nature is dying.

Individuals and families who care can only do so much. The Government needs to stop the destruction of these remarkable and essential forms of nature.
