Two adult dogs and four puppies were abandoned in an apartment and officials noted the animals were neglected and underfed.  Complaints came into the police about barking dogs at 172 North Main Street in St. Albans.  When officers arrived, they found an acquaintance of the barking dog’s owner with two puppies she had retrieved from the building. Police suspected there were other abandoned and uncared for dogs in the building, so they obtained a search warrant.

After receiving the warrant, the police entered the building and apartment to find two adult mixed breed dogs and two more puppies; all the animals were emaciated. The dogs were taken to a veterinarian for treatment, and are now housed temporarily at the Franklin County Humane Society for more care. When and whether the dogs will be put up for adoption will depend upon how the potential criminal case plays out.

The owner of the dogs was not living at the apartment and had left the dogs unattended and poorly cared for. This person or people have not yet been identified but when they are, they will be cited for the abandonment.     Please sign and share this petition to charge and punish these people in St. Albans for leaving their dogs home alone and starving.

St. Albans Law Enforcement – These owners need to be held accountable for their actions in abandoning and starving the dogs that were found alone in the apartment.  It is imperative that you find and charge them to the full extent of the law for animal neglect, cruelty and abuse.
