SAY NO! to Tilted Kilt coming to Maine - Women are not objects

MaineEater has released that a Hooters-Style Tilted Kilt is coming soon to South Portland. http://maine.eater.com/2015/10/2/9439183/tilted-kilt-pub-restaurant-south-portland-maine. I believe this is bad news for Maine and the mental health of our residents.

Some people in support of a Tilted Kilt opening up in South Portland may argue that there is nothing wrong with appreciating the beauty of the female body, but it becomes an issue when a person is made into an object for sexual use rather than seen as a person. Tilted Kilt employs women as objects (including the discrimination between those they deem attractive and unattractive) and gives women the message that their greatest asset is their breast size and level of attraction. Men are given the message that objectifying women for the purpose of their own sexual arousal is normal and okay.

It is a hard enough battle in today's society for women to gain confidence and self-worth. Please do not contribute to the harsh objectification of women that already exists in this world by allowing Tilted Kilt to open in Maine. The internet has enough accessible sexualization. Please, please keep it out of Maine's restaurants!

By signing this petition, you are asking the state of Maine to take steps further in fostering respect and equality for women, starting with keeping Tilted Kilt pubs out of Maine.
