Help The Tonkin Snub-Nosed Monkey from Extinction

The Tonkin Snub-Nosed Monkey distinguishes from other primates by its flattened face, a flat upturned nose, tufted ears, pale blue rings around the eyes, and thick pink lips, the Tinkin Snub-Nosed Monkey is endemic in northern Vietnam in Tat Ke sector of the Na Hang Nature Reserve and Ban Bung Sector, its population is about 200,according to The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) its classified as Critically Endangered.

Threats are habitat loss , there is an increase of human disturbance in the southern sectors of Na Hang Nature Reserve, the development of hydroelectric power project along the Gam River in Na Hang has caused large areas of The Tonkin Snub-Nosed Monkey to come under construction, the increase in human populations (especially construction workers ) have lead to increased demand for meat, which lead to increase in hunting of The Tonkin Snub-Nosed Monkey,and the using of this monkeys in Chinese traditional medicines and trading of it in China,despite claims from various sources that it is not hunted , several gunshots are heard almost daily during field trips in the Na Hang Nature Reserve (Le Boonratana 2006).
