STOP Industrial Wind Turbines in North Frontenac and Addington Highlands

There is an active proposal to erect 150 Industrial Wind Turbines (>400' tall) incorporating a total of more than 20,000 acres of pristine Eastern Ontario wilderness.
In addition to large scale deforestation and extensive road construction, such a project will promote habitat destruction for wildlife and will have a high potential for fragile ecosystem damage.
Existing wind turbine developments in other parts of Ontario have raised real concerns regarding health issues, property devaluation, agricultural livestock disruption and potential fire hazards.
The wind project being proposed will be subsidized entirely by Ontario taxpayers and hydro ratepayers. As electrical generation by wind turbines has been proven to be most productive at night when electrical loads are low, excess energy is typically sold off to Quebec or the USA at rates below the cost to produce, which will also be subsidized by Ontario residents.
By signing this petition we are sending a message to the councils of North Frontenac and Addington Highlands to join the 90 other provincial townships who have registerd as "NOT A WILLING HOST" with the provincial government.

Dear Council members of North Frontenac and Addington Highlands,

We the undersigned urge you to register your respective townships as "NOT A WILLING HOST" with the Ontario Provincial Government in Queen's Park.
