Oppose the Construction of a Mega-truck Terminal In Lower Swatara Township

UPS has petitioned Lower Swatara Township for a zoning variance to build one of their largest hubs in the county on Vine Street. This will generate an increase of 600 tractor trailers dailyand an even greater number of delivery vehicles and employee vehicles dramatically increasing emissions which will have a detrimental impact on our health especially our at risk groups which include the elderly, children and citizens with respiratory illness . If approved this facility will also generate material sound pollution, major traffic congestion and potential sinkhole related environmental risks. There is also the risk of negatively impacting residential property values as no one wants to live near a major trucking corridor. The cost is the detrimental impact to our health and quality of life. Please support this petition to have the Township Supervisors reject the zoning variance. Additional information on the impacts are available at the following link. We encourage you to join the upcoming township meetings so you can be fully informed.
