L&Q landlord wasting Tax payers money

L&Q are a major landlord and are taking tenants and tax payers money to build and manage affordable housing (replacing the job the local council is supposed to do) L&Q is one of the UK's leading housing associations and one of London's largest residential developers. They own or manage over 90,000 homes in London.

Wandsworth council's far-reaching Housing Strategy, known as the Wandsworth Housing Offer, is a pledge to deliver 18,000 homes over the next ten years. A recent example was the construction at the sites on Wandsworth High Street and Garratt Lane, formerly owned by the council and South Thames College. London and Quadrant Housing Trust is building 200 new homes, 50 of which are for local residents to rent or buy at a below market rates!

Whilst we commend this initiative, building affordable homes is one thing, maintaining and managing them is just as important for the residents. This is where L&Q fail to fulfil their duty to the residents of Wandsworth.

They have recently announced they are planning a 35% increase to everyone’s service charges - when people are currently struggling to pay rent and wages aren’t keeping up with inflation where do they think the money is coming from - who hold them accountable for the total miss management of tax payers and tenants money..... I am asking my local MP to look into this but as yet have had no response, we can’t afford to take this to court and that’s not really dealing with the main issues which are just plain mismanagement.
