Amendment to Section 6 Concerning Fences

The Fieldstone Estates Homeowners Association (FEHA) Covenants restrict the materials allowable for fencing to wood, brick, or "treated round wood posts and rail with chain-link”. These materials present a challenge to FEHA members who desire other material alternatives that would allow for long-lasting investment, less maintenance, and alternative aesthetic options.

Fences made of treated round wood post and rail are prone to rot, decay, and decomposing. Fences constructed of metal post and rail are not susceptible to environmental conditions. Since these types of fences will not decompose, they do not require the annual maintenance and upkeep of round wood fences and this in turn lends them to be a better long term investment for holding value and little to no cost for ongoing maintenance.

In addition to the cost in time and expense, the requirement for upkeep, and possible detraction from property value, the FEHA Covenants limitation of the fencing materials available restrict FEHA members from choosing fencing that is aesthetically pleasing such as ornate metal fencing and powder-coated chain link.

This petition once it has reached 20 signatures will present before the FEHA Members a motion to amend the covenants to include ornate metal and powder coated chain-link as available materials for fences.
