This is a terrible injustice done to a young man, who at age 22 was hit by a speeding taxicab, that ran a red light, hitting him while he was in a crosswalk and had the right of way. Nearly died, but is alive and has been through hell. Still is. Got very little money, as driver was not an employee of cab company. After lawyers took their share and medical part, he was left with a lousy 9 grand. Anyway, he gets a lousy amount in Social Security, cause he had no work history to qualify for social security like I have. $482 a month is all he gets. But, being he was working part time, as a delivery man, he did and does get workers comp. Only $114 bi-weekly. His rent is $350 a month, and he's left with very little. He has to pay transportation costs just to pick up his 6 year old, who lives 50 miles away. He is blind in one eye, has a TBI, and prone to seizures, and very deoressed. Why? Social Security says he owes them over 11 grand. For not reporting he was getting workers comp. This is crazy. His ex wife was his rep payee and mis-used his funds, and they did nothing. And she and his lawyer should have reported this. His brain injury causes memory loss. I, his mom am now his caregiver, and have tried like crazy to get them to listen, to stop this madness. He is 31 now, and not working. Gets very little from them, while illegals are getting much more, plus working under the table. And his ex got off with stealing all she did. Please, help me hrlp my son. He deserves to get more to live on. Not owe that much or any. He lost too much already.
