Stop Georgia HB 423 that proposes legalizing animal cruelty

  • by: Susan Stainback

This petition involves the use of live raccoons for bait in dog sport recreation. A true horror story is currently unfolding in the state of Georgia. House bill 423 to legalize the capture of wild raccoons to be used as bait for recreational dog training is being processed through the legislature. Legalizing activities that inflict such cruelty to and terror in innocent living beings for “sport” is unthinkable but what is more terrifying is that 162 politicians elected to the Georgia House of Representatives approved the bill. In addition to the cruelty toward wildlife inherent in this potential law is the message it communicates to our society. That is .... living beings that are “different” from ourselves being subjected to cruelty and lack of respect for their lives is acceptable for sport/recreation/ fun. The far-reaching implications of such thinking is obvious. If you are opposed to legalizing animal cruelty, please sign this petition.
