Demand Environmental Human Rights legislation

For those who have invested considerable time, energy and money to live in rural areas, we ask that the Harper Government approve legislation for Environmental Human Rights that is currently being considered.

This legislation is being brought to the table as a result of a case of air pollution.  I believe it should also extend to noise pollution as well.

In Alberta, the province's airspace is undergoing a redesign to accommodate a runway that was built without adequate consultation with the communities most impacted such as Airdrie, Balzac and all of Rocky View.

In fact, areas located nearly one hour away from the airport have suddenly been destroyed by intolerable noise levels.

Owners of rural properties prize the serenity on their farms and acreages above all else. Have you ever been to a country home that has windows closed and passes out earplugs just to protect guests against bursts of noise well over 100db?  Drive North of Calgary and you'll have your chance.

The Calgary Airport Authority and Nav Canada have stripped residents in far-removed rural communities of their right to quiet living by creating flight paths over areas that should never fall victim to the airport's expansion.

Protect areas such as in this.  Support Environmental Human Rights legislation and demand the restoration of peaceful living to established rural areas damaged by YYC's new runway.

Unless legislation is passed, every property owner in the country is at risk of having his or her human right to enjoy their home in the manner in which it was intended and to have their quality of life taken away.
