Stop the neglect to horses in Ireland

In Ireland it is becoming a regular thing with horses been left in public fields, yards and anywhere else the so called owners decide. Horses are often left for days under terrible conditions, abused and beaten.

Tied to a pole in a field with no food for days.

Only recently in County Wicklow a horse was kicked to death. The horse was one of a few been taken out of a truck to be left on a field. When the horse refused to co-operate and leave the truck, they drove off really quick and the horse fell out. Hurt on the ground., unable to get up, the men proceeded to kick the horse to death, how cowardly and cruel. The poor foal was left standing beside his dieing mother.

This happened at 4 pm on a sunday afternoon with kids watching.

A new law in that a license with a sizeable fee be brought in and also a condition that the owner has written, checkable, suitable and safe place to leave the horse. All horses found in public fields should be confiscated and put in appropriate care.

All horse owners not following these laws should be severely prosecuted and fined.

Its time to make a stand. Neglection and cruelty to these animals should be severely punished

Dear Mr Coveney,

As you are aware animal cruelty and neglect is becoming a regular thing in Ireland and one issue needs your urgent attention, horses.

So called owners are leaving horses to graze in in public fields, yards or whereever they want. Sometimes left for days, some tied to poles with no access to food, badly neglected and beaten.

Only just recently a horse was kicked to death in County Wicklow at 4pm in the afternoon in front of observing kids and then left to die withs its foal standing beside it.

This crime should be severely punished.

We ask that much more severe laws should be brought in for anyone owening a horse. Starting with a license. A substantial fee should be paid for this license with the condition that the owner has arranged a proper facility to leave the horse and not on public fields or whereever they wish.

All horses should be micro chipped and any owner breaking the conditions should be severely punished.

All horses found in public fields should be immediately confiscated and brought to the appropriate care.

We sincerely hope that you take this petition very seriously and thank you for your time and effort.

Yours Sincerely,

People of Ireland.
