Tell CO School to Change Its Dress Code

A nine-year-old girl's compassion got her banned from a charter school in Grand Junction, CO. Denver's 9News tells the story of Kamryn Renfro, who shaved her head to show solidarity with her friend Delaney Clements, an 11-year-old whose chemotherapy treatments for neuroblastoma have caused her hair to fall out. Clements commented that Renfro's new look made her feel less alone.

School officials, however, prevented Renfro from attending school on the grounds that her shaved head violates the school dress code. KDVR reports that originally Renfro was told she could not return to school until she acquired a wig or her hair had grown back. She has been invited back to school and the school will hold a meeting to review its policies.

Update: The school will allow Renfro to attend school with her shaved head, but has not changed its dress code.

Sign to tell Caprock Academy to change its dress code!

I'm writing to day to express my disappointment in the barring of Kamryn Renfro from Caprock Academy due to her shaved head. Kamryn shaved her head in compassionate support of a friend receiving chemo. I am pleased that Renfro is allowed to return to school with her head still shaved. But I ask that you change the school dresscode in order to allow female students to be bald and re-evaluate the type of enforcement that bars children from school.
