Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) introduced a bill that would allow 3.3 million acres of public land in 10 states. If this bill passes, this will not just cut economic activity and block public access to larger parcels of federal land, it will pose a threat to wildlife and the environment by allowing fossil fuel companies to drill and mine. We need to preserve our public lands, not destroy them.
We the undersigned call upon you to reject any bills that allow for the sale of public land. This land was put in public trust for a reason, to preserve our precious wilderness and wildlife. Our country needs to rely more and more on limitless and non-polluting renewable energy.
