Recent news have reported that suspected fighters from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), an Islamic group from Uganda, raided some villages in Beni, North Kivu and killing or hacking to death with axes and machettes at least 50 people. Such attacks on civilians are a clear violation of universal human rights and humanitarian law. As political tensions take a new facet in the Democratic republic of Congo, We demand a full deployment of additional units in the region to protect local citizens and their businesses. Eastern Congo has been cursed by instability and citizens have become the primary target of terror groups. Dozens of armed groups seeking control over the territory and mineral resources have now remained active in the DRC since 1996-2003 wars. As instability takes a new dimension in eastern Congo, there is now clear evidence that terrorist organizations will find a new safe haven to launch attacks on innocent civilians and other groups of interests. We must put an end to this nonsense right now! We are mourning our sons and daughters as the whole world is watching! We demand Justice for Beni! Break the Silence!
