Don't Persecute ESPN Panelist, Stephen A. Smith

I am a woman & I was not offended or confused by Mr. Smith's comments regarding domestic violence. It was clear to me that he was saying the abusers are the criminals and there are no excuses for their actions. It was also clear that he said anyone abused is the victim. Period. He simply was saying to watch for dangerous situations and try to keep yourself safe. Empower yourself. He did not blame women for being abused, nor did he state that it is a woman's responsibility to avoid abuse. We educate our society to avoid all kinds of danger, such as kidnappings, rapes, carjackings, etc... We are not stating that it's our responsibility to avoid those situations, just that there are tools we can learn and use to help prevent them. That's what Mr. Smith was doing regarding domestic violence... He was educating. Furthermore, I was offended receiving the petition to suspend Mr. Smith. Luckily I researched the video myself, otherwise that misleading, twisted interpretation of his interview could have caused further damage to his career and his reputation.
