Back in 2007, Lubbock's very own Cotton King's Hockey team was disbanded due to complications within the use of the City Bank Coliseum. Ever since then, Texas Tech University had a meeting last year about Hockey but in October the team disbanded...I am wanting to play hockey yet I would have to drive two hours to Odessa just to play hockey?!?! Lubbock is growing massively and with more cultures coming. Texas has multiple Hockey teams and rinks even in Dallas with an Official NHL team the Dallas Stars. Lubbock is a great city and yet we have had multiple conversations about bringing hockey back but nothing, We as the Citizens of Lubbock Texas need to bring notice to the Council and our local government officials that we need to bring hockey to Lubbock. Odessa, Amarillo has OFFICIAL hockey teams. Our town is getting better and better as each year comes and even if we have to have a gofundme account just for local donations, we need to at least do something. Many of you may think Lubbock is not the place for hockey but as we are growing building a huge track and field for tech, 4ORE golf, and multiple places. I say we bring in something new for the citizens of Lubbock. If you think we should get a Hockey Rink in Lubbock. I say sign this petition and get noticed by our local government officials and city council. If we think about it, bringing a hockey rink to Lubbock brings multiple things. Like Ice Skating, Hockey and much more! This allows more opportunities for everyone in Lubbock and children who want to learn new sports! CITIZENS ARE WHAT KEEPS THIS TOWN GROWING EVERY YEAR!
