Compensate the

Support Justice for Magdalenes and urge Prime Minister Enda Kenny and the Church of Ireland to issue an official apology and compensate the women and their families who were forced into slave labour in the Magdalene Laundries.

Thousands upon thousands of young women and girls were sent to these 'asylums' and endured hard labour for which they were never paid, malnutrition and abuse, both physical and sexual. Many were forced to give up their babies, often the result of rape and others died from Goodpasture Syndrome from the toxins used in the work place.

Since the closure of the last laundy in 1996, these women have continued to suffer while the government continued to refuse to acknowledge their existence or it's role in their enslavement. The recent small and begrudging acknowledgment is not enough. The few survivors are now advancing in age and they should not be made to wait any longer for what is their right and what is owed to them.
