In re: Marcella Barnum Jones

As residents of the Cloisters, a building owned and managed by the University of Chicago, we are very unhappy about the loss of Marcella Barnum Jones, who has for many years filled the daytime shift at the front door of our building. From our vantage point, she has done her job in an exemplary way. She is courteous and professional, prompt and efficient in addressing and steering building service requests, and completely responsible and trustworthy. She is also appreciated for her kind, attentive, and friendly manner. Many of us have depended upon her for years and have never been disappointed.

Surely a record of service so deeply valued by the people she serves every day should be important to the agency that employs her. We ask that you take this testimony about her service into account as you weigh whatever matter led to her apparent suspension this month, and that you reinstate her in her position at the Cloisters.

We would appreciate an acknowledgment of our petition, which may be sent to: Katherine Taylor, k-taylor@uchicago.edu.
