No Smoking Policy for Vernonia Parks

Almost half a million people die each year from cigarette smoking or exposure to second hand smoke. Thousands more die from smokeless tobacco, and safety concerns about e-cigarettes are now on the rise. The City of Vernonia parks need a policy to prohibit smoking and the use of tobacco related products to protect the health and safety of our children, young athletes, and those with medical concerns.

This policy will improve the cleanliness and beauty of our parks by cutting down on litter, and will prevent exposure to second-hand smoke and discarded cigarettes which can cause burns or be used by young adults as a means of experimenting with smoking.

A No Smoking policy will promote a cleaner and safer environment for families with children and athletes to utilize, which are the populations our parks were designed to serve.

We need to demonstrate that the citizens of Vernonia want this change to be made. Sign this petition TODAY to show Vernonia's City Council that you demand a No Smoking/Tobacco policy in the Vernonia parks.
