SAVE SIMPLE EXTENTIONS AT USYD!

  • by: Blythe Worthy
  • recipient: University of Sydney Vice Chancellor Michael Spence

At a meeting of the Academic Board on the second of December an amendment will be debated that, if passed, will ensure simple extensions remain University policy. This amendment has already been passed through the academic standards and policy committee due to the lobbying of student representatives but we need as much pressure as possible on management to ensure simple extensions are still an option for students in need.

Simple extensions are often a necessity for students, especially disadvantaged students who suffer from a physical or mental disability; as well as those that come from a low SES, rural, regional or Indigenous background. They must remain an option to ensure that university students in need can manage their study loads alongside the additional stresses of studying in Australia.

Please sign the petition to show University management how important Simple Extensions are to students in need.

We also would like to hear your stories. If you have used a simple extension at a time of need, we want university management to know how much they’ve helped you manage your academic progress. We will take your stories to management and to Academic Board to show how important simple extensions are to the students of this University.

Dear Michael Spence and members of the academic board,

Thousands of students have shown their desire to save Simple Extensions, and understand how important Simple Extensions are to students in need.

Simple Extensions help students manage their academic progress and sustain them during stressful times. The overwhelming response from this petition shows how important simple extensions are to the students of this University.

Simple Extensions need to be saved, please do something right by students and decide not to scrap the Simple Extension program.
