Stop brutal dog killings in China

I, the undersigned, would like to protest against the brutal killings of dogs in China. Chinese district government is giving orders to its citizens, “Get rid of your pets or we will come to your home and kill them on spot”. This is very strange because in China the dog ownership is tightly regulated.

This extreme and brutal order is for stray as well as owned animals, vaccinated and registered. An unidentified individual claimed that this dog killing order was the demand of the residents of that area. The claim was that the dogs were defecating in the city and bothering people.

In China there are many rules and regulations regarding cleaning up after your pet, leash laws etc. In the Beijing city dogs are not permitted outside during the day time. If a dog grows taller than knee-high, it can be seized by the government of China.

There is a high registration fees that you must pay to the government if you want to keep a pet. Despite of this high registration fees many people have made dogs part of their family in last 20 years. This brutal dog killing is not the first attempt in China. In 2011, more than 30,000 dogs were killed in order to improve sanitation in that city. In 2009, 36,000 dogs were killed in Hanzhong in Shaanxi.

Another example of brutal killing of animals in China is the “Yulin Dog Meat Festival”. In the festival thousands and thousands of dogs and cats are butchered and served to the residents and visitors of the country. There are many agencies and N.G.O’s making efforts to stop this cruel festival but nothing has been achieved yet.

My petition is an effort to stop the dog cull in China.
