Lunch Food Must Be Changed

The lunch food provided by the schools in the Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) must be changed. The schools serve ordered-in pizza and Asian food from restaurants that is ordered a day early, at the end of the school day. The schools also provide sandwiches, salads, heated up meals, and snacks. The sandwiches don't appeal to many students, and the heated up meals are soggy. The school should be providing a variety of freshly cooked lunch options. The school does provide a bag of packaged fruit, but it does not taste good as it is not fresh, and has preservatives in it. The school should be providing a variety of freshly cooked lunch options. The least they can do is have the food come right before lunch if they are going to have it delivered. As a solution, we are going to create a petition to see how many other students agree and want to change the lunches schools provide in IUSD. We will then contact the nutritionist/supervisor of IUSD, Meghan Norton. She is in charge of Menus and recipes, special diets, meal options, and questions regarding middle schools. Other school districts have had this issue as well, and they solved it. An example is the San Francisco Public School District. The food served wasn't great, but they changed that and made the food much much better. We are trying to do the same in our district.
