Save the natural flowers, animals that have built homes here and a place for our kids to play.

We are petitioning on not wanting to cut the flowers and wild grass down on the empty lot of Talofa Dr. This has been growing for multiple years with no complaints. The property owner was given this property for her septic in 2009 and was finalized in 2011. The property owner was given verbal permission to allow this garden area to grow. There is no record of this agreement in the minutes, but it was verbal agreement. Some of take a verbal agreement at a man’s/women’s word. To some this is more important than a piece of paper signed by someone. She took the time to ask her neighbors if this would be ok or if this would bother them to look at through their windows. They all agreed that it would not bother them or be an eye sore.

Why are we being told how our yard should look? This has natural flowers that are growing, along with wild grasses. It is the home to many bunny families and ground squirrels. Our kids use this for camping with their tents and playing during the summer. A place to have our kids spend the night in and think they are on camping adventure. During the winter the kids use this area to build forts. It is not weeds that are growing out there if you really stop to look at them. There are natural flowers and grasses that have taken root there. There is a strawberry patch that is growing in mixed of this all. We understand that to some it is an eye sore, but whose opinion is an eye sore. It may be an eye sore to some, but to our community it is beautiful. It is a place to look at when you come in and drive a round. One person’s opinion for something may different to the next. We should have the right to create our gardens and property the way we want to.

This area is not a safety hazard, this is a natural garden of flowers, grasses and homes to animals. We feel as a community, property owners should have the right to garden as they choose. If we are to garden as the village wants us too, then all homeowners should be held to the same standard.
