The U.S. Government Is Creating a Hunger Crisis Amid Food Inflation

The U.S. federal government just ended emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits that began at the start of the pandemic. The benefit cuts will impact nearly 30 million Americans, who depend on these benefits to put food on the table. And, with grocery prices at a record high, people are going to starve.

Demand the government reinstate emergency SNAP benefits!

SNAP is an important federal program that aims to improve nutrition levels in low-income Americans by providing a grocery stipend to buy food each month. With the new cuts, SNAP recipients will lose between $95 to $250 a month of money that usually goes towards groceries.

Since 2021, SNAP's emergency benefits have kept 4.2 million Americans out of poverty, according to a study. So, it's clear the program is necessary. Since the emergency benefits were granted, state poverty levels fell by 10% and child poverty by 14%. It's simple: Americans need these resources to stay alive.

Food prices have risen over 10% in the last year, so in what world does it make sense to cut benefits given to low-income Americans?

Demand the government reinstate emergency SNAP benefits!
