Tell the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to stop calling terrorists ISIS

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) is a national media network, funded by Canadian taxpayers. Ever since the terrorist "Islamic State" became newsworthy in 2014, CBC news outlets (TV, radio, online) have adopted the acronym ISIS (otherwise knows as ISIL, Islamic State and Daesh) to refer to it, even "clarifying" interviewees who refer to it by another term.

CBC has run news stories on Canadian individuals and businesses who have been harassed or harmed because of the notoriety of the term ISIS as proliferated by the news media. Many women are named after the Egyptian Goddess Isis, as are many businesses, especially those run by women. In addition, the Goddess Isis is worshiped as a deity by many practitioners of alternative spiritualities.

CBC's insistence on using the term ISIS to refer to a terrorist organization, when they know that this usage is harmful and offensive, is reckless and needless. The Prime Ministers of Canada and the U.K., as well as the President of the United States, regularly use the term ISIL.

Please, CBC, stop using the term ISIS to refer to the Daesh.
