Let's name a street in Staten Island for Stan Jay, owner and founder of Mandolin Brothers.

Stan Jay was a Staten Island icon, the owner of Mandolin Brothers, a world famous store for one of a kind instruments. He was a beloved member of the Staten Island community and meant a lot to so many people, especially Staten Island musicians who knew him not only as a store owner but a respected performer and a friend. Mandolin Brothers was a tourist attaction for musicans from around the world, and visited by many celebrities.

Stan Jay was a Staten Island icon. He did more to promote our borough than any one else I can think of. Visitors from all around the world would regularly visit our famous showroom. He made Mandolin Brothers a tourist attraction and visitors would often spend a whole day perusing our "one of a kind" instruments and taking our entertaining "shop tour' happily directed by "Stan the man", himself. As a leading member of the Staten Island Songwriters' Circle, the Staten Island Acoustic Music Society and COAHSI, I can assure you that our entire community of singers, songwriters and musicians urge you to honor this unique and wonderful man by renaming the section of Forest Avenue between the corner of Oakland Avenue, where his store "Mandolin Brothers" is located (629 Forest Ave), and Pelton Avenue, the next block, where he lived, to "STAN JAY WAY".

(Stan's wife Bea, daughter Alison and son Eric have enthusiastically agreed to this petition being submitted).

— Lou Russo, Art Director at Mandolin Brothers
