Cadbury - Remove deforestation from your palm oil supply NOW not 2030!

The rainforests of Southeast Asia are disappearing at an alarming rate due to the production of unregulated palm oil. This is causing habitat loss and extinction of critically endangered species that rely on habitat for survival.

Cadbury Chairman and CEO Irene Rosenfeld announced that the company has signed up to the New York Declaration, which aims to end forest loss by 2030 - but that is not soon enough!

Cadbury needs to remove deforestation from their supply chain NOW and not wait until 2030. Currently Cadbury is using the RSPO Mass Balance supply chain, which is a mixture of certified with uncertified palm oil. Although this is a step in the right direction, it's not good enough and a stronger commitment needs to be made to ensure there is no deforestation in their supply. Currently Cadbury is unable to make this claim.

Sign the petition: Cadbury needs to step up and either make the shift to the safer, certified style of palm oil now, or hire a third party to track its supply chain and ensure that is not contributing to species extinction, habitat loss, and exploitation.

Cadbury / Mondelez ANZ

I am aware that Cadbury are using the RSPO Mass Balance supply chain.

Mass Balance is a mixture of certified and uncertified palm oil and only supports the production certified.

Mass Balance is untraceable back to plantation therefore there is no guarantee that deforestation, human rights issues, child labour and species extinction is not leaking into Cadbury supply.

I am aware that Mondelez Chairman and CEO Irene Rosenfeld announced that the company has signed up to the New York Declaration, which aims to end forest loss by 2030.

Unfortunately 2030 is not good enough.

Many companies have made the commitment to end deforestation now and are already implementing their tracking and mapping to ensure no deforestation is leaking into their supply chain however Cadbury are lagging way behind.

Cadbury needs to step up and either make the shift to Segregated or Identity Preserved certified palm oil now, or make a strong commitment to a No Deforestation Policy with a 3rd party to map and track supply to ensure Cadbury are not contributing to species extinction, habitat loss and exploitation.

POI support brands using certified palm oil and fully endorse those that make strong commitments to a No Deforestation Policy.
