Please sign and share this petition to ask congress to restore the honor of all LGBT veterans that were discharged illegally under the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” Bill!! You should feel proud of any and all Americans that felt the need to love and serve our country without prejudice!!

A person’s personal life and sexual preference has nothing to do with the need to love and serve our country. Over the years, more than 100,000 gay members willingly served in the U. S. Military, being expelled with a type of dishonorable discharge just because of who they are personally. As a result, they could not apply for tuition under the GI bill, find good jobs or claim full veteran benefits. Even with the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” law implemented, it still did not work in their favor.

We are encouraging the Congress of pass the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” bill and make it easy for those who were discharged illegally to be able to get restored of their status without penalty.

The bill calls on the U.S. Department of Defense to come up with a transparent set of steps that veterans can follow and requires the military to review the records of service members who ask. If a military discharge board finds that a veteran had no other misconduct on his record and was given a less-than-honorable discharge only for being gay, the bill requires the Defense Department to change his status and restore all rights and benefits that he would have received with an honorable discharge.

In moving forward to pass this bill, it is important to get testimony from some of the service members who were expelled for their sexual orientation.
