Ronald Gibson Buchanan WW2. Fought in the Airforce and was shot down over Germany and became a POW. There is a lot of information to back this up.
He survived and returned home to Bowen and built a hut on Saddleback Island to relax. He spent many decades there until the Authorities of the day burnt it down, along with bull dozing fishing huts down along the Queensland coast line.
His last wish was to have his ashes along with his wife ashes scattered on the island where he enjoyed his time with his wife and children after the war and a small memorial cross was erected to mark where the old hut stood.
Now the authorities are trying to make Ronald's son Geoff take down the cross.
I think it should stay.
This man made the sacrifices and served this country and I believe that he should be honoured.
