We as adults know that these days, our communities are seeing drugs everywhere. However, have you ever thought about a person intoxicated by drugs, behind the wheel of a vehicle, next to you on the public roadways? Have you ever thought about those drugs and their users sitting right next to you or your child while chaperoning a school field trip? Have you ever thought about yourself, your child, grandchild, teacher, or family member being put into harm’s way intentionally due to the ignorance of a drug addict? Have you ever thought that a currently using addict would be allowed to visit and/or role model or just be around those innocent children? These children may be too young to speak, afraid to, not know how to ask for help. These children may not know who to tell someone “help me; I am afraid of what might happen today, tomorrow, or within the next hour”.
Present day Marinette County appears to think that just one more chance, which then turns into a second chance, and then a third chance, is the answer to keeping children safe from heroin and other illicit drug using parents. They believe that allowing a parent that is in and out of the court systems for drug use, possession, manufacturing, and/or selling is able to properly care for a child. This said by social workers in Marinette County "some mothers can be drug addicts and still be good moms". If this is what they think in Marinette County, then who is safe here? Not the children, not the parents that work week in and week out to give their children a good and safe life. Not the ones that look at their dad and say, “I don’t want to go to my mom’s, I'm scared to go there.” The ones that don't contribute to society, the ones that inject all of our hard earned money into their bodies and continue to enjoy that one good high they get. The money that is supposed to be known as "CHILD SUPPORT" is now the money they call their "DRUG MONEY". Those are the people that Marinette County is working hardest to protect these days. Did you know your hard earned taxes are being used to fund their medical, pay for their food, pay for their cell phones, and to pay for their child care (even though most of them do not hold jobs)? The system is forcing all of us to enable and support the drug using community. It is forcing parents who have a child with a user to contribute directly to the funding of purchasing and manufacturing drugs.
Is this what we want to do with our money? Is this the type of community we want to live in or raise our children in? I encourage each and every one of you to sign this petition to show Marinette County, our children, and our community that you are NOT OK with this!
