I am campaigning to close down two zoos owned by a senior Government Official in Cambodia.
I have sent a petition to the Government about Kampot Zoo and my friend, who is travelling Asia at the moment, went to Prey Veng Zoo last week and took photos and video. The situation for the animals at Prey Veng is even worse than Kampot Zoo. They are dying and need our help.
I am asking if the Forestry Administration in Cambodia will visit Prey Veng Zoo and close it down immediately before more animals die.
I have researched on the internet and found lots of information about the two zoos. There are many bad reports on Tripadvisor.
Prey Veng Zoo is also known as Bayap Zoo (Wikipedia) and is owned by Cambodia’s Senior Minister H.E. Nhim Vanda, First Vice President of the National Committee for Disaster Management. The zoo is about one hour from Phnom Penh in Kamchay Mear District, Prey Veng Province.
It was established in 1995 and was destroyed by flood in 2010-2011, and was renovated and reopened for tourists.
