DEMAND IMMEDIATE STOP TO DOG CULL IN BOSNIA

I have this information from several reliable sources inside the country that there has been a mass cull of the stray dog population going on for several days now. At present I am unable to name any of my sources for fear of reprisals. The authority for this massacre comes from the state leading political party, who sit in their council seats, completely detached from the real Bosnian streets and the situations arousing in them.

The dogs that are being killed on mass are not aggressive or disease ridden, they are friendly, affectionate creatures, lying happily on the pavements around the towns, near play parks where children pet and feed them, in built up areas where they are fed by many residents who have formed attachments to these sweet dogs but unfortunately do not have the financial means to keep them as pets. Many of these dogs have been sterilised and innoculated against rabies via The Dogs Trust!

The authorities are shooting these dogs in these places. Their actions are not only traumatizing the people, especially the children but are endangering their lives too. A stray bullet could easily hit and kill a child. Surely this is not an acceptable situation. We have reports of dogs actually being snatched out of children’s arms and then destroyed in front of them, the homes of your citizens being raided and animals taken and killed. Rescuers and activists have begged and offered money to take the dogs to safety and still the dogs are murdered.
