Supporting the University Avenue redesign including roundabouts.

Show your support of the new and improved University Avenue by signing this petition. The safest and most effective way to move traffic through the University Avenue corridor will be with the City of Cedar Falls's plan to include roundabouts (4c).
-Traffic does not warrant 6 lanes. There is more traffic on West 1st St (4 lanes) than University Ave. It would be fiscally irresponsible to keep 6 lanes and continue wasting tax dollars on future maintenance and snow removal.
-Roundabouts are proven to reduce traffic accidents, both injury and death.
-Roundabouts are safer for children/pedestrians to cross because they don't have to cross all 4 lanes at the same time. Roundabouts are designed to have islands where kids/pedestrians can stop, so they only have to be concerned about 15-20 mph traffic from one direction.
-Cedar Falls City Staff continues to work with every business along University Ave to ensure needs are met if they can be.
-Hong Kong restaurant will not have to close its doors for University Ave to be completed. Staff reworked the intersection to make sure their business could stay where it is.
-Numerous studies and reports show that street projects, such as this and including roundabouts, have a dramatic impact on economic development within the corridor they are installed in.
-This option is the most cost effective to construct with the least impact to tax payers.
To the City of Cedar Falls, Mayor and City Council
We the undersigned believe that plan 4C for University Avenue as supported by 6 of 7 council members is the most cost effective and efficient of the plans presented to the city. We believe that resurfacing of University Avenue is not an option and should not be considered as it would be fiscally irresponsible. We support plan 4C for the following reasons:
