Petition to Build a Play Ground at Magnolia Student Center River Springs Charter School

Hello to All Magnolia River Springs Charter School Family’s,
I'm a mother of a child who currently attends Magnolia River Springs Charter School. As you all know River Springs Charter has purchased the old YMCA property at 4020 Jefferson St, Riverside, CA 92504. It has been rumored that there will not be a playground at the new facility. I along with another parent am starting this petition to request that a playground be built for our children at the new Jefferson property. I can't stress enough how important it is for our children to experience grass and the sun on a daily basis. At the breaking ground ceremony on 2/19/16 Mr. Philip Hermsmeyer whom is the Assistant Superintendent, Facilities & IT had mentioned during the ceremony that the Magnolia River Springs students can utilize the adjacent park (Don Jones Park) for the children’s play needs. The issue with the Don Jones Park on Jefferson is it does not meet our children's play needs. Don Jones Park has one baseball diamond and a grass field, there are NO slides, NO jungle gyms, NO swings, or tether ball courts. I am finding that the park is not only important to myself and my child but it is also very important to many other parents and their children as well who currently attend the Magnolia River Springs Charter School.
I myself experienced over the summer with the move to the temporary site a lot of miss information being given or no information what so ever being given when it came to a temporary site for our children grades Kinder through 4th mainly from the head office in Temecula. Like the move and temporary site over the summer again the Magnolia parents are guessing as to what will occur in regards to a park at the new facility again receiving no information or updates. I feel it is very important to keep not only the Magnolia Parents but also our children abreast of the park situation at the new facility. A couple parents have offered a solution, build a park in the parking lot there is enough room, another parent mentioned the parking lot seems large now but what about when we get there and go up to two classes per grade then the parking lot will not seem so large then? One parent had mentioned then that the staff can park in the housing track’s surrounding the new facility. One parent mentioned an indoor playground, which another parent mentioned they really wanted their child to experience the sun and how vitamin D can be good for our children on a daily basis. After going over this subject with other parents we all feel that something needs to be done, whether it’s an indoor playground or an outdoor playground in the parking lot we all seem to come to the same common denominator our children need a park! Let’s not continue to speculate and let’s take action. Sign our petition NOW to show the River Springs Charter School Temecula Head Office how important it is to us parents and our kids to have a park at the new facility.

Update: On 4/12/16 at 9:45pm I received a comment from the Magnolia Student Center River Springs Charter's Facebook page regarding a playground at our new Jefferson facility and I would like to update everyone who has signed or would like to sign our Petition:
"No petition necessary. The plan is for a playground, but what kind will be determined by the remaining funds from the building. Unless there is someone willing to write a grant and get free money to build it."

Personally I feel that the response from Magnolia Student Center River Springs Charter's FB page is substandard. If you would like to comment on this progress update please do so in our petition thread. I appreciate all the family members taking an interest in their children's play needs and thank you all for your continued support.

Update 4/12/16

It has also been rumored that there will be a playground but only for grades kinder through 1st grade. Please express your interest in a playground that can accommodate children up to a Junior High level possibly grades K-6th. Your input on grade level is welcomed. If you would like a playground that can accommodate grades K-6th please express your interest.
