Tell the Department of Justice to Stop Using Faulty Drug Tests!

Thousands of citizens are jailed every year based on a cheap drug test that's proven to be up to 33% inaccurate.

Every day, police officers use a $2 drug test to arrest people on the street. If the officer performs the test incorrectly, or misinterprets its results, the suspect can wrongly be charged with a felony. Many of these defendants believe they're innocent, but plead guilty when given the choice to accept a plea bargain rather than go to trial and face a tougher sentence. But after completing the lighter sentence, they are left with a felony record that affects their job prospects and reputations for the rest of their lives.

A reexamination of cocaine field tests conducted in Las Vegas between 2010 and 2013 found that 33% were false positives. And data from Florida law enforcement found that 21 percent of methamphetamine tests produced false positives, half of which weren't even illegal drugs.

There is no government regulation for manufacture and sale of these tests, and no comprehensive records of their use. So why does law enforcement continue to use these tests to determine the fate of so many lives? Please sign the petition to urge the Attorney General to establish rules to prevent the use of faulty drug tests.
