Please sign and share this petition nationwide in an effort to gain justice for Siri, a young pug dog that was electrocuted while going on a simple routine walk with her owner. Somehow, a live electrical junction box was left out on a sidewalk in front of a construction site and when Siri stepped on it, the poor animal yelped and died! Such a thing should never have occurred. This is so sad for this poor dog and the owner and could have also happened to another human or child! Someone needs to be severely held accountable!

Just recently, a Ms. Cheryl Buchanan of Juneau decided to take her 3-1/2 year old pug named Siri for a routine stroll downtown while also looking to get herself a late-night snack. What happened next occurred so quickly. As Siri was walking along the sidewalk, she suddenly yelped and then keeled over. She was dead! The incident happened so quickly.

The streets were still busy with numerous December spectators and spectators across the street noted what had happened. One person jumped when trying to help the dog due to the electricity in its body. He had to wrap a coat tightly around the poor dog in order to pick it up.

What is even more absurd is that Ms. Buchanan was placed in handcuffs at the scene for threatening or intimidating an officer. Obviously she was not in the best of spirits at the loss of her dog! Who would?? But because she supposedly had a "smart mouth" when officers took the death of her animal so lightly, the dog owner lost her dog and her civil rights to be angry and grieve. Witnesses saw no real reason this poor woman was placed in handcuffs while her dog lay on the sidewalk, deceased due to carelessness by the city and their construction site. The city needs to take full responsibility for the loss of this pet which could have been even more tragic. With all the guests walking around downtown, other people could have also been harmed or killed because of the carelessness to let a live electrical boy laying around! Please help us by signing and sharing this petition everywhere possible in order to gain justice for Siri and make the city take full accountability. Someone needs to be fired from their position and Ms. Buchanan compensated, not only with an apology but retribution of her choice. Losing a pet is just like losing a family member!

City of Juneau and the Juneau Police Department - You need to do a full investigation into why a live electrical junction box was left out, causing the death of Ms. Buchanan's beloved companion and pet family member. This tragedy could have also occurred to a child or other human as so many folks were strolling along the downtown streets. You handled the situation so poorly by handcuffing an angry, grieving woman who just lost her dog due to the city's negligence! Someone needs to be held accountable for leaving this live box out in the open, unattended, putting so many in harm!! Whoever is responsible needs to be fired! Additionally, you need to compensate this poor woman with a bold and public apology along with possibly covering any expenses due to her pet's demise and maybe even offer her a new pet of choice at your expense. Such a situation should not be handled so lightly and citizens treated so poorly.
