Urge Bremer County Fair to cancel Animal Cruelty Events by JULY 28th!

  • by: Brad Gerndt
  • recipient: General Manager Bremer County Fair

PETA has learned that on July 31, so-called "Animal Scrambles" will occur at the Bremer County Fair in Sumner, Iowa, during which rabbits, chickens, calves, and pigs will be released into an arena and frantically pursued by crowds of people ranging in age from 3 to 18. Being roughly handled, subjected to screaming audiences, and then chased and pounced on is a terrifying and potentially injurious ordeal for animals who have no means of escape or defense. Making matters worse, victims will be sent home with participants' families, most of whom are simply unprepared for the extraordinary responsibility. Sadly, every year, countless animals "won" as prizes are neglected, physically abused, and/or moved around from home to home, relegated to lonely backyards, and forgotten.

Please SIGN PETITION then urge the Bremer County Fair to cancel these cruel events, and then forward this alert widely!

Please call and send polite comments to:

PETA has learned that on July 31, so-called "Animal Scrambles" will occur at your Bremer County Fair in Sumner, Iowa, during which rabbits, chickens, calves, and pigs will be released into an arena and frantically pursued by crowds of people ranging in age from 3 to 18. Being roughly handled, subjected to screaming audiences, and then chased and pounced on is a terrifying and potentially injurious ordeal for animals who have no means of escape or defense. Please, we urge you to cancel this animal cruelty event.  Perhaps you can replace it with the "Why" of the event cancellation, to prevent the cruelty of animals.  We are certain you will have no problem obtaining volunteers, information, educational booth maybe even with games from Humane Societies, PETA, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals organizations and the like.

Great Gratitude for your prompt attention to this matter.
