Capital Offense for Killing Security Officer

US: More Security Officers than Police Officers Killed on Duty.

More and more, security officers are the first responders to accidents, incidents, crime scenes and all the other things that can and will happen in a shopping mall, a residential area, outlets, bars, and nightclubs. The number of security officers far exceeds the number of police, and they’re usually closer, they’re more accessible, and the threshold for calling them over the police is much lower.

Killing a Police Officer is a capital felony and the same should go for Security Officers.
For anyone convicted of a capital felony, the law requires a separate sentencing hearing before a judge or jury to weigh mitigating and aggravating factors. The judge or jury cannot impose the death penalty and must sentence the person to life imprisonment without the possibility of release if the mitigating factors outweigh or are of equal weight to the aggravating factors or if any of four automatic bars to the death penalty exist.
