Ban Shark Nets to Save The Great White Shark

The great white shark is endangered. It is listed as vulnerable by worldwildlife.org. A study by Barbara Block of Stanford University in 2010 estimated the world population of great white sharks to be lower than 3,500 individuals. This is due to bycatch. The white shark is not meant to be strangled in the nets. Our goal is to get as many people as possible to sign the petition so we can forward it to the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of South Africa. Without these sharks, the marine food chain will be in trouble.

To Whom It May Concern,

The great white sharks are a victim of bycatch and shark finning. It is not meant to be caught in your nets. Once in the nets, they are kept there until they are dead. As the king of the marine food chain, they keep the food chain balanced. The food chain could be in big trouble without these sharks. They are just as important as any species on this planet.

Please ban your nets or take immediate action to protect the great white sharks. Our generation can not stand to see another extinction when there was something we could have done to prevent it. Please take our request into consideration.

Thank you,
