According to Saturday's , on March 8, ABC 7 Eyewitness News, a dog was rescued from the ice-covered surface of Lake Michigan.
Rescuers pulled out all the stops to save the dog, who was presumed to be a stray.
Firefighters were first alerted to the dog's plight around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday -
unable to capture the dog on foot, the rescue team took to the sky and used a helicopter
to corral the dog to the safety of shore.
The frightened dog made the rescue difficult -
running back to the ice several times before finally reaching,
and staying, on solid ground.

after the dog was off of the precarious ice.
It is unclear if the animal control officers finally caught the wayward dog.
Bless them all.
