Abolish the "U plus Two" law in Fort Collins

The "U Plus 2" law: Colorado states that no more than 3 unrelated adults are allowed to live together. It allows the following scenarios: a family (of any size), a family (of any size) and their nanny, a family (of any size) and an exchange student, two single parents, their kids, and a friend, or two siblings and one friend. It does not allow these scenarios: two couples, two brothers and their 2 friends, a family (of any size), a caretaker, and an exchange student, or more than three unrelated people living together.

With CSU bringing in a new wave of students, in the efforts to increase the number of "enrollees" it makes it much more difficult to find affordable housing, especially when you are limited to 3 people pre house hold. This law hurts a great number of college students making it hard to afford to live in a house, let alone try to buy food and pay for school. With students having the option to lower their rent significantly it helps remove a little worry from their life, letting students focus on their school work.

Now I have seen many petitions against this law go up, but never succeed, and I believe that is due to a lack of communication. Tell everyone about these problems, and get them to sign, and let us make life easier on ourselves!
