Horror story of a substitute teacher right here in my home state, tried and wrongly convicted on several counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor.

Her conviction was overturned over a year ago on the basis of shoddy police work, school negligence and flawed "expert" testimony. She still faces 40 years in prison if tried and convicted again.

Why won't Connecticut leave her alone? The State's Attorney won't drop the charges and won't schedule a new trial.

Please sign to ask Connecticut prosecutors to DROP all the charges still pending aainst Julie, who is guilty of nothing more than computer illiteracy and working in a school system that failed to comply with state regulations on classroom computer security.

I really believed we lived in the twenty first century...I have had this happen before and it freaked me out...I kept trying to stop it but it kept going and going. The school should have kept their computers updated. I would be ashamed to say I lived in this state. I could support required computer training for Julie, but the focus should be on the teacher who logged her on (a major security violation!), the school for not properly managing computer assets, and the district for not giving proper training and guidance. While Julie showed bad judgement in her misuse of a school computer, the possibility of her committing the crime with which she is being charged is virutally nil. Lying "experts" and incompetent police work should be reason enough to throw this whole case into the trash heap as Andrew Cantor said in USA Today. Stop persecuting the innocent and go after some real criminals.

I'm a middle school teacher and I don't want to be convicted of a crime I did not commit. Students have a lot more access on the internet than is imaginable. I closely monitor students and still some seek on to websites by sneaking when the teacher is not looking. It only takes a second for them to get on a site, then when the teacher is looking they minimize the screen.

I would be willing to bet that almost 90+ percent of people on the Internet have bugs in their machines that they don't know about, and they would probably not know how they got there. When I first got my 'New' Computer there were Trojans and all sorts of things on it. Apparently while it was on layaway someone used it. When I tried to print off of a page I was inundated with 'Print Jobs' I did not want. Papers were literally spitting out of the Printer, some with cryptic symbols on them. I had no idea how to get it to quit! I can tell you that from the sounds of it I am more Computer savvy than this poor substitute Teacher, and I had major problems trying to get the 'Print Jobs' to quit. I could not close them out fast enough! I do not see how this person could be held responsible for someone else's Computer problems. The School should be responsible for its upkeep if it is a 'School' Computer, but even the best kept Computers are not guaranteed to be clean of Spyware. As for "Risk of Injury to a Minor." Have you turned on your t.v. lately? Everything on it has to do with 'Drugs' and 'Sex.' I believe that the time spent on this case could have been better spent trying to get offensive Ads off of the television because they cause a "Risk of Injury" to minors, and they are never ending.
