Support Sustainable Fish!

Consumers can't make responsible choices about seafood due to lack of labeling regulation. Currently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows many species of fish to be sold under the same market name, regardless of whether a specific species is threatened, endangered or caught illegally. Today, 56 species can be called "snapper," and 64 species can be called "grouper."

Using species-specific names -- one name for one specific species of fish -- would help curb fraud and illegal fishing practices. It would protect threatened and endangered species, and decrease consumers' chances of eating fish with high levels of mercury, or unsustainable fish.

Consumers have a right to know what they're eating, and unethical fishing practices must be punished. Please sign the petition to urge the FDA to ensure stricter seafood labeling so consumers can know to buy fish that's safe to eat and legally caught.

We, the undersigned, are concerned that consumers can't make responsible choices about seafood due to lack of labeling regulation.

We respectfully urge you to ensure stricter seafood labeling so consumers can know to buy fish that's safe to eat and legally caught. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
