Protect Weston Hills

It has come to our attention that the Weston Hills HOA has begun activities to build an office building in the Jardin Park.  We, along with numerous residents, are vehemently against this for many reasons, such as:

1. The significant expenditure for this building and the associated aspects have NOT been properly noticed, voted on, nor approved by the residents. Therefore, the HOA has clearly stepped outside their fiduciary responsibilities to the residents.
2. The building is not wanted or necessary. This "center" or better called office building appears to benefit Castle Management to the detriment of the Weston Hills residents. The office building will detract from the appearance of the "residential" community and will increase the traffic/presence of nonresidents (vendors/work people) in the community.
3. Lack of transparency. It is offensive that the residents learned about this project first through social media rather than through proactive communication from Castle Management and the Board. We continue asking ourselves, why was this project groomed and started to be executed (by requesting permits to the city) behind the residents. Where are the meeting minute where this was discussed and an approval given to the architect that creates the plans? Many residents have requested information, pursuant to Florida Statutes and as of now, we have not received it.
4. Deception to the residents and the City. It is our belief that the HOA has attempted to deceive the residents as well as the city by calling it a 'community center'. However, to be clear, it is my understanding that the intent of this building is for commercial purposes for Castle. The placement of a commercial building within a residential neighborhood is incompatible, and the property is not zoned for such structure. Furthermore, any attempts at modifying the existing zoning or usage opens the doors of possibility of future developers using this building as a way to justify other development, zoning changes, or other aspects within our community and/or on the golf course. As you are aware, we already dealt with that a few years ago!
