On the night of November 23,2012 one night after spending the Thanksgiving holiday with her family, a 17 year old African American girl was brutally assaulted by an assailant that has yet to be identified; unfortunately, the
local media have spoken of this incident very minimally.Below we have provided some photos of the unspeakable damage inflicted on this child, so our community may witness the horrific & life changing event that this child fell victim to on this cold,wet rainy day in Springfield, OR. This brave teenager searched for help and was discovered with massive facial swelling, a broken nose, bleeding from her ear, multiple upper front teeth missing along with the bone connecting her front teeth to her pallet, a broken jaw, multiple through and through lacerations to her face, both eyes swollen shut strangulation marks to her throat, and the skin was removed from her thigh and knees from possibly being dragged. The assailant(s) are still walking free amongst us in the community, and that is the threat to the community. A heinous act this violent is undoubtedly a priority and concern to our community. This child will need to undergo multiple facial reconstructive surgeries. The surgeon at River bend Hospital said that it was the worst assault he had seen, and proposed that a weapon or street curb was used because the amount of damage inflicted to her face. The future of this child and the safety of others rest in the capturing of the monster(s) that committed this heinous act to a child.
