Next year, Dorset County Council are planning to close all 22 full time Youth Centres across Dorset! All of these centres provide valuable support services and activities for 11 to 21-year-olds. Our local centre in Blandford, one of those earmarked for closure, is accessed by 250 - 300 young people every week. Please sign this petition to tell local government we are against the closure of Blandford Area Youth Centre.
Blandford Youth Centre has provided support to local young people for over 50 years, and offers a range of very important services, advice and information that benefit the community. It is staffed by qualified youth workers.
The centre is open four nights a week, and during the day offers 1-2-1 intensive support for vulnerable young people. On Saturdays, it runs its own Job Club and provides sessions for young people with special needs. It also supports local families by providing cheap and free activities during the school holidays. We need to make a stand and protect invaluable services for young people.
