Congressional Republicans are refusing to raise the debt limit, threatening to push America into default, and tank our economy. And now Kevin McCarthy is lecturing Democrats about the need to cut the debt, which is really rich, considering that Republicans are the ones who largely built it.
- Every Republican president in the last 40 years left a larger deficit that the one he inherited.
- Every Democratic president in that same period left a smaller deficit.
- Donald Trump sent the deficit through the roof — nearly 1/4 of the entire national debt came during Trump's 4 years.
- President Biden has already cut the annual deficit by nearly 50%.
Republicans like to lecture about the debt, but they are a disaster when it comes to doing anything about it. It's time for them to shut up, let the adults do the work, and not force us into default.
