I saw an incredibly sad story about a dog named Titan who was put to sleep because he made a mistake. While he was playing tug a war with his best friend, he tried to get a better grip on the rope and accidently bit his finger. He had to get stiches. The hospital and Animal Control said he is a danger to the community and he needed to be put to sleep. There were a lot of steps skipped because Titan should have been put in quarantine for a couple of days to prove he wasn't dangerous. This poor baby just turned a year old. He was also a pit bull. That is the reason everyone jumped to conclusions. If this had happened with a poodle, this would have been seen as a mistake and they would be put in quarantine, maybe. Everyone sees pit bulls as dangerous, but if you really took the chance to get to know them, you would see they are the sweetest, more gentle, loving and loyal dog you will ever find. The reason for any animals aggressiveness is the owner. This poor baby was killed because of him breed and a mistake. This is NOT acceptable. Here are a few FACTS about pit bulls. In a study evaluation canine temperament, 82% of dogs receive a passing score. Pit bulls constantly score ABOVE AVERAGE with a score of 86.8%. Golden retrievers score with 85.2%. Pomeranians score at 75.8%. When it comes to animal cruelty, pit bulls are targets of human abuse more than any other breed. There are a total of 10,728 canine abuse cases as of July 16, 2012. 77.5% of these involve pit bulls. When it comes to fatal attacks, the probability of a pit bull attacking you is .00125%. The probability of a chow attacking you is .00333%. Also pit bull attacks are so much rarer and less likely to be fatal than a common injury. These are the total deaths by some accidents and then by a pit bull. Death by drowning- 567. Death by suffocating in bed- 327. Death by alcohol- 302. Death by contact with hot tap water- 55. Death by incidents involving all breeds- 26. Death by flaming nightwear- 9. And death by pit bulls- 8. Now by all of these facts, why in the world does everyone target pit bulls as bad and dangerous dogs. Titan was killed because of his breed and one mistake, both uncontrollable. This is sad and tragic. No one should get away with this. Please sign this petition so this wont happen again.
