Against Rezoning of Land Goodburlet & E. Henrietta Road Henrietta NY

  • by: Betty Brock-Porter
  • recipient: Town of Henrietta, Passero Associates, Morgan Acquisitions LLC

We petition the re-zoning of this area for the following reasons:

Ø      All houses along Goodburlet are single family homes.  Re-zoning this for multiple housing will reduce housing values of which many of these homes were built 1950 or prior. Many people have lived in these houses more than 40yrs. It is a fact people who purchase single homes care more about their property because it is their equity. Morgan calls this high end rentals based on monthly            rent dollars, but in today’s market even $1,000 or $1,500 is not high end.

Ø      Traffic. Safety As Henrietta has grown E. Henrietta Road and Goodburlet has a large amount of traffic. This could produce up to 400 more cars on both roads which already is a struggle to handle for homeowners in this area. The corner of E. Henrietta and Goodburlet already is congested. With this extra traffic are additional pedestrian safety issues, as people walk, jog, ride bikes and we are all concerned for the safety of our children.  This not only impacts Goodburlet and East Henrietta Road residents, but those off Pinnacle Road as well.

Ø      Interruption to Wildlife.  Henrietta has been a great place to live as the Town has always respected for Wildlife and they need a place to live too. The re-zoning area that is being considered for apartment complexes contains many species of animals (Foxes, Deer, Rabbits, Squirrels etc)  When the field across from Goodburlet was cleared of tree and brush many of these animals had no place to go and migrated behind the area of Goodburlet. How much further can we push these animals and where can they retreat to next?  Now the wildlife will be interrupted again.

    • As a town are we desperate for that many more tax dollars and more population?

We would think the town would want to attract people for single home ownership who are dedicated to their town through community involvement. Generally, people who live in apartments are not long term.
